Extra Credit; Personal Effects ( I know it is a movie but it has changed my thoughts in some way and I had to share)

I have to be completely honest with those of you who are reading this blog. First, I am a sucker for movies with sex scenes and lust, suspense, and movies based on books. But, never in my mind did I think I would get the high level of appreciation and significance out of a (non-box offive hit) film as I did with this one. Personal Effects which stars Ashton Kutcher, the brother of a dead twin who has been raped, murdered, and burned to death, Michele Phifer, widow of murdered alcoholic husband and deaf near sighted son, and Kathy Bates as the mother of Ashton Kutcher's character Walter. This film from the beginning is intact with rage and problems, but also with the twists of life and the heartache some have to go through.

22 year old Walter, who is a National Wrestler, has come home to tend to his mother and late twin sister's child. While during court he meets up with 42 year old Linda, Michele Phifer, who is also in court to see the murder of her husband's trial. While this seems like a typical movie it is not in anyway. Walter full of hatred and Linda downed by her son's actions, since the death of his father, somehow pull together and learn from each other and also fall in love. The movie takes a twisted turn as Walter's sister's co called killer is found innocent and released. This movie consists of many lessons such as the temptations of love, the healing of a loss, the sorrow life causes and the blessings we end up with. Having been a fan of Michele Phifer, I never really cared for Ashton Kutcher until this film. It really is wonderful; I have watched it like everynight for the past week.

Reaction to Anti-Essay

Poetic Terrorism is phenomenal. Seriously, I absolutely love the idea of it. It is away to be heard in a noticing way rebellious to the norm. People who have their minds sealed in a box probably hate it, but come on its just so appealing to people like me, an open minded freak. Some of the suggestions that it made probably would result in jail, but if it gets the point across, it is so worth it. Vandalizing, no do not really like it, but if the situation deems important I would do it in a heartbeat. That’s the problem with people these days; no one dares to dare anymore. Poetic Terrorism just might be away to live again.

The reading on
Street Performance made me think about gypsies, members of an organized group of travelling showmen, too. How ironic that we use this technique as a way of getting seen and making points heard when a long time ago they were considered The old days when they would come around and perform in towns for money, what a life just living one day at a time. I think Cher had a song about it. Even now going back to the 1980s and 90s, they are known as new age travelers, consumed of hippie life aspects. If the material is good and wild enough people will stay around. Gaining extra money is probably a good thing too.

Chalk art regards as fun for people who have artistic abilities with utensils, but not me. However, I love the idea of writing or drawing the issue or point on something that when people walk by will notice it. Following the glimpse you know they will stop and examine it. It is only their extinct to do so. Oh my, the human race is so nosy.

Street Theater sends my mind to Disney World’s parades. If street theater is anything like that count me in. Dreams do come true. Also, it seems to be simple acting and is a good way to get people to pay attention to issues.

Honestly, no problem here with this section. The normal essay is getting real boring (I’m so sick of revising). I cannot wait to do this project. Call me crazy if you want.

Extra Credit: Sarah Palin the winking fool who people believe!

Earlier Sarah Palin, Alaskan governor and former Vice Presidential candidate of the GOP, in her overnight political stardom dogged Obama, now the President of the United States, then the Democratic candidate for President, declaring he “palls around with terrorist.” Some people like Palin supporters suggest that her comment of Obama was nothing but a campaign tactic. To be brief, those people are either blind, stupid, or just so conservative that they would rather eat shit than to admit they do not know what they are talking about, or in other words let everyone know that Palin is as bad as the people she puts down and worse.
First, let’s talk about how she changes her mind all the time and how somehow people believe she says what she means. In her campaign she could not stress how important it is to watch spending and is said to be known for her tremendous budgeting. However, she has requested earmarks worth $198 million for next year, according to indicted Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, the
Los Angeles Times reported. Oh let it be known, Palin believes the Los Angles Time to be a very strong source. Also, as mayor of a small town in Alaska, Palin repeatedly traveled to Washington to ask for earmarks. The city attained over 27 million for earmarks including more funding for the Bridge to Nowhere, which she now opposes. If you’re not sure what an earmark is it is a fund from congress, your tax dollars, to be spent on a specific project; in simple terms a money wasting technique. Furthermore, Palin also increased the budget by spending on roads and sewers, left the town nearly $20 million in debt and raised the city sales tax by half a percent. Is she not a saint? I mean wow she really can budget. She left her town in debt, asks for earmarks when she is known to oppose them, and even opposes something that she was for when running for governor.
Wrapping this rant up, listen people please it would be in the best interest of the country to face the facts and send this woman back to NOWHERE. She is only good at one thing, and that is winking to get her way.

Response to Cell Phone Etiquette: Shut Up, Already!

Public Space by definition is area or space that is accessible to all citizens. Public Space should be and mostly are areas were people can do as they please why not breaking a law. Using a CELL PHONE IS NOT A CRIME.

In Annie Nakao's writing over Cell Phone Etiquette, she presents a so called problem that cannot be fixed and should not be fixed. The article seems to drag on and on about how cell phones annoy people in public areas. It even goes so far that she agrees that cell phones are the cigarettes of today and she along with Larry Magid do not want that smoke in their face. FYI, Magid and Nakao, cell phones fall no were close to cigarettes. Cell Phones are an invention, a knew way of communicating, a life saver, and an evolution of life. The world has evolved, get out of the stone age, and stop wining because you cannot take a shit in peace. You want to shit in peace go to a family restroom. Cigarettes are tobacco an herb of the earth that just so happens to be bad for you because dumb asses soak them in tar and nicotine.

OMG according to Nakao people on cell phones get on her nerves and the nerves of other people. Well get this, if that person was not on the phone to someone else annoying you then they would probably be talking to you annoying you even more. Public Space is an area where people are free to be free. Cell Phones are here to stay and they should. If listening to people on cell phones in public space threatens your health as bad the cigs you called them then hahahaha. There will never be a designated area for cell phoners. LOL

Response to Tatum and McIntosh

I am honestly so sick of hearing about racism that it is not even funny. Every man is equal. Why can’t everyone just get that through their heads? No, everyone has to be a big baby; it is like a race to see who is better when the truth is no one is. Everyone is equal. The thing is no one is ever going to be happy. Black people talk about slavery all the time. Well, white people have been slaves too, and blacks do not even know how slavery was and how brutal it was. Whites need to shut up as well. There will always be those confederate idiots out there, but there will always be those punks who hate whites. Slavery ended a long time ago everyone has equal rights not so get over it. America is one of the least racist countries out there; we just hear it so much because you do not get shot for saying it. I am not trying to say no one is racist, but it is like it has become a stereotype for whites to be racist against blacks as well as blacks to be racist against whites. The same goes for men and women in McIntosh’s article she speaks of men and women like black and whites. In my opinion men do get more than women but not all do. Some men are good men and some are bad. Some women are good and some are bad. Some black people are good and some are bad. Some white people are good and some are bad. Everyone needs to get along and get over the past; move on. If America as a whole is really racist then why do we have a black man as a president? The generation has changes and so has America.

Iron Maiden Response and Opinion

Michael F. Jacobson and Laurie Anne Mazur, authors of the Iron Maiden: How Advertising Portrays Women, have hit it right on the head. Reading the words of this article has made me ever angrier at society and the way it makes us women think. Magazines, movies, books, and everything else portrays women as flawless stick figures, giving us normal women no chance at some things. Society thinks that we all should be skinny, wrinkle free, flawless, and beautiful; hell they even make us think it. I cannot tell you how much I try to lose to weight. In the 1960s big was beautiful, well not even big normal. Marilyn Monroe wore a size 12/14 and she was one of the most sought after and prettiest women of the time. Now, women who wear a size 12 are pointed out to be big girls who need to get on Weight Watchers. It is so funny because in reality no one is perfect. Everyone comes in different shapes, weights, and colors, and the truth is we are all beautiful in our own way. Honestly, the funny thing is these models, or so called perfect women, are not even perfect. They are airbrushed. Magazines airbrush and go over all their flaws; getting the kinks out is what I call it. Why can't inner beauty be in? Society not only gets a hold of the women but the men as well. They make the male sex believe that no woman is pretty unless she weighs 90lbs and has flawless features. It is like women are not sexy to a man unless their ribs are poking out and their ass is the size of a tomato. Well guess what I weigh 180 lbs, wear a size 14, and I am still beautiful. It makes me mad seeing these articles and talk shows telling me and every other woman that we have to wind blowable before we are beautiful. I want even get in to the makeup scandal. What is wrong with natural beauty? Little girls are so over whelmed with looking like these models that some make their selves throw up and some just do not eat at all. It is very sad that society is making these trends. If you ask me they are the ones to blame for eating disorders; not the readers the magazines, movies, and all entertainment that puts it out, they are to blame. If every girl could read this article by Jacobson and Mazur then maybe they would see that you do not have to be young and beautiful to be loved. It would actually do all the world some good to get their head out of their ass and look at people for what they are instead of trying to make them something they are not. It has got so bad with these images of what women should be, that all women who have meat on their bones are called fat, ugly, and are just totally secluded from society. Why is being curvy, wrinkly, big butted, pudgy, and all the other norms so bad?

HIGHER EDUCATION!!!!!!!!!

While doing research over my paper for English 1020 I came upon some interesting facts of the Higher Educational System of Tennessee. Did you all know that over 21 million dollars goes to just paying higher figures in the system and none of that goes to helping the students? The Tennessee higher educational system instead of taking pay cuts for the higher figures are giving them to the teachers and professors that actually do help students. Not only is that true but it is trickling down to the students. The Tennessee Board of Regents are taking the 12 hour tuition cap off and that is allowing them to make the students pay higher for education that what it is worth.
Some might argue that this the with drawl of the tuition cap is good thing because students drop classes that they sign up for knowing that it want hurt their cost or their grade. However, I beg to differ. That is just an excuse for the TBR to use. Face it they have us, students, by the balls and are turning them every which way because they know they can. Honestly I am getting sick of it. Let me go on the record to say FUCK THE TBR AND ALL THAT IS WITH IT!

We have rights to stand up for this "cruel and unusual punishment" and I suggest we get a move on it. Do not think for one minute you cannot do anything about it because you can.
